Why 2d echo is advised? Echocardiography is a test that uses sound waves to produce live images of your heart. It is advised if a patient complains of breathlessness or chest pain. How it helps? 1. It allows to evaluate any structural abnormalities of the heart and its valves. 2. It helps in finding the cause for irregular heartbeats. 3. It may help in diagnosis of coronary heart disease. 4. It detects the presence of blood clots in heart chambers. 5. It helps in finding if there is fluid in sac around heart which is called pericardial effusion. 6. It may show the presence of infection over heart valves i.e. vegetations. So if anyone has complains of chest pain or breathlessness or both, they may need evaluation of heart by getting echocardiography of heart or 2d Echo along with ECG.
